because Kevin Green left us for San Fran, and came crawing back a year later.

Honestly, if they want a statue of Minter, I'm fine with it. It's not all about what a guy does on the field. Minter represents our idea of the quintessential Panther. If they want to put that on display outside the stadium, it won't bother me.

having had a week to think about it, I think I've softened on this one a bit. I still dont think he deserves one, but if they give him one, I won't pitch a bitch about it.

    slow mediocre christian?

It won't bother me either but I think it will diminish the status of them. Rucker will need one too in a year or so if that is the standard. I just think it should be a no brainer for things like this. Maybe it is for Richardson and afterall thats all that really matters.

They do have a McCormick statue, and I'm sure most people who see it think "who the fuck is this guy?"

Minter was a very good player at one point. He might have made a Pro Bowl if we were more nationally recognized back then, or if John Lynch wasn't in our conference.

I was being facetious about Greene trying to make a point, guess you missed that. NO ONE who plays for a team for 2 years deserves a statue. Minter comes closer than Mills to deserving a statue, he had played his entire career for the Panthers, been a great leader as well as great role model for kids and highly active in the community. Does he deserve a statue? NO. I would reserve that for players who made numerous pro-bowls and led us to play-offs several years. Haven't seen that player yet personally. And as much as I liked Mills he didn't deserve one either, at least not at the time he got it.

Is there a distinction below a Statue? Can we just retire his number? I'm not opposed to giving Minter a statue, but I'm not sure that's the way we should go as an organization. Minter gave us everything he had, and if he had made a couple of Pro Bowls along the way it would be a no-brainer. But that's what statues should be, no-brainers, and I don't think this is one.

I say retire #30, but don't put up a statue. Same goes for Kasay as well.
