Heeding those words of advice has helped safety Chris Harris overcome a lack of blazing speed and become a reliable hard-hitting playmaker who always seems to be around the ball.

that's not exactly a ringing endorsement, now is it?

3 page thread on a Bears board was mixed. Hits hard, doesn't always wrap up, isn't a good cover guy, wasn't gonna start, etc. were the negatives. I didn't see anyone say he was great, but some were surprised he was deemed expendable.

according to what iv'e been reading he's a bit of a fan favorite and many consider him to be better to have around right now than Archuleta or Manning. He is experienced in their system at both positions and though he has never been great he has played solidly. Manning beat him out to start last year based on better speed and more potential (Manning was their 2nd rounder). Our guys must like Harris' versatility and the fact that he is smart and can apparently play a musical instrument . . . he could have taken a band scholarship but passed it up to pursue football.

At least we got him fairly early in camp so he will have time to learn our system. Would have been nice to have got him before camp though. I guess our coaches have learned how bad the guys we have not suck....

No one's gonna mistake him for a pro bowl safety but has experience and doesn't seem to make too many mistakes which is more than we can say we've seen from Salley.

6th round pick, so he's an overachiever. If he's a bright guy who can get to the right spots, that's good enough for me.

Maybe Salley isn't the one who should be worried.
