Ok, Mr. Bronson Arroyo is a LH pitcher who is infinitely more valuable than Saltalamacchia. Teixeira will get that much and potentially more. He'll be the best hitter to reach the free agent market in years, much better than Hunter.

I honestly respect your passion for the game, but you really don't seem to know a lot about the major leagues. Teixeira is a beast at the plate. Only twenty active players have a career OPS over .900, and Tex is one of them while Hunter is only at .793. Remember, this is a guy who hit .301 with 43 home runs and 144 rbi as a 25 year old in '05. Last season was a "down year" at .282 with 33 and 110.

I like Tex a lot but how would you pay him more than Tori Hunter? He is in my opinion the 2nd best center feilder in the game. Hits a lot, drives in runs, steals bases, and is a good man in the clubhouse. Look for the Bronx to make him the biggest offer of the upcoming free agent season. The Angels and the Dodgers and maybe the Whitesox will all be in the hunt for Hunter.

Teixeira has been a better hitter than Hunter in every season he's been in the major leagues (although Hunter has a lead right now because Teix missed a month), usually much better. Plus he's five years younger than Hunter.

You must take into account the bandbox of a ballpark that the Rangers play in. The ball leaps out and untill this season, Tex had some pretty good bats around him. ESPN did a graphic on Tuesday that showed how much better Tex hit in Arlington, it was pretty significant. I hope he hits a ton but I would be willing to bet any amount that Hunter gets a bigger contract than Tex. Don't forget the teams that covet Hunter, Yanks, Angels, Dodgers, etc. Big market teams with deep pockets will drive the price up.

That ball Tex hit out last night looked pretty good.

I don't bet, but I'll honestly be willing to put down whatever you want on this because it's guaranteed money. $10, $100, even more if you're willing to go that high. Seriously, you're looking like a fool on this one. I have no doubt that Hunter will get plenty of money himself, but Teixeira is a much more coveted hitter.

Remember, Teixeira was hailed by BA out of Georgia Tech as the best hitter to enter the draft in years. He only slipped to the Rangers at #5 because of Boras signability issues.

    edit:
By the way, Teixeira turned down an 8 year, $140 million extension offer from the Rangers.

Because Scott "Blood sucking" Boras is his agent. His clients NEVER sign extentions or new contracts w/o hitting free agency first

Even with Boras as an agent Tex will not eclipse Hunter's deal. 2 major factors, Hunter is almost certainly going to be getting big time Bronx bucks and Tex if he stays in Atlanta will have to give them a discount.
