It appears to me that John Sureholhz did everthing he could do to put the Braves in a position to make the post season. Getting Teixeriria (excuse spelling) was a major coup. He solves the biggest problem the team has on offense and plays a very good 1b. Getting Dotel is a good deal when you factor that the price was Kyle Davies who was given every oppurtunity to be a part of the roatation. I would have loved to get a starting pitcher but the market was not there. It's up to the guys to get on a roll and make it to October. The National League is there for the taking in my opinion.

Was watching ESPN and they were saying that other GM's were upset because they felt they were offering more for Dotel.

It struck me strange that the Braves could get Dotel for only Kyle Davies. Is Dotel hurt again?

Davies is a 23 year old, talented starter. Remember that Dayton Moore was with the Braves before becoming GM in Kansas City. I'm sure he's partial to players he saw coming up through their system and believes that he might be able to capitalize on Davies' potential. I think he's wrong, but who knows?

Good moves by the Braves... they need something to give them a kick in th ass. I wonder what Boras will try to hit the Braves up for in a contract for Texiera?

The Braves hope that Teixieria will give them a discount because he has ties to Atlanta. Boras will talk him out it though and the negotiations will be brutal like they always are with Boras.

At least $20 million a year. There's little to no chance of an extension with the Braves, but '08 will be Bobby and Schuerholz's last year anyway (same for Chipper and Smoltz), so they're taking one more shot before it all goes to crap.

No way will he get that kind of money even with Boras as an agent. Tori Hunter will perhaps come close to that for his next contract beginning in 2008

20 mill does seem a lot but then Boras thinks all his players are the greatest of all time. I'll bet he'll have a video and stat book that would make Lou Gehrig wish he were half as good as Teixeira :laugh3:
