I guess we can't assume Butler is a lock, although I'd like to give him an opportunity. Walker is good from a depth standpoint. Julius has made a lot of RT's his bitch, so we can't be too hard on him for that.

If anyone is screwed here, it's Mathis.

He's a vet. No risk that I can see of, as I'm sure they'd be little or no bonus money involved. At worst he's camp fodder.

So why did the Bucs get rid of him?

No, not completely. It would be good to have competition instead of handing a roster spot to Rashad, but that doesn't mean we've given up on him.

Because he was a first rounder making first round money playing as a backup. No one is arguing that he failed their or calling him a star.

The reason I said "WTF" is that Walker seemed to be a dirty player, if I remember correctly. As well as pissing Pep off constantly during games, he seemed to be diving at knees and ankles all the time to hurt people.

Agreed. My shock is WHO it is - not that they're bringing in someone to camp. short of QB and Center maybe, I wouldn't be shocked if they brought in camp depth at any position at this point.

Signing Walker puts four guys in play-Butler, Mathis, Montgomery, and Hangartner. Two make it, two don't.

Mathis has been said to be working out at OT as well as RG. I don't think he'll be any better there either.

Hangartner is supposedly going to see time at RG and is a decent backup at C.

Montgomery really didn't show much in limited time and is limited to playing one position, LG

Butler didn't even dress, he's the Salley of the offense.

    So I'm thinking:
LT Wharton w/ Gross flipping back over in the event of injury. Butler has to show he's worthy of a spot to stick.

LG Wahle w/ Mathis and Montgomery battling it out for the backup. Loser is cut outright.

C Kalil w/ Hangartner as a swing man between C and G. Hartwig can slide back if injuries take out the top two.

RG Hartwig w/ Bridges as the primary backup and either Mathis or Hangartner in the event of injury

RT Gross w/ Walker and Bridges as backups

overall, this is the best depth we could hope for and also the most versatility we've ever had.

Didn't he hurt Rucker or Wallace a year or two ago with a cheap shot? IIRC, fuck him, depth or no, fuck him.

The only thing I'd sign him for would be to carry Pep's helmet or to wash Pep's jock after practice.

Walker is a jerk and malcontent.
