Unfortunately, this string isn't about whether or not Yaz is top-50 all-time. It's about whether or not Henderson is top 15 all-time. You agree with that claim? I bring Yaz up because I feel he, along with several others, had better careers than Henderson. Apparently, you disagree with that assessment.

Not sure what you mean by Yaz's peak "not lasting very long." In the period between 1966-1977 he averaged 24 homers, 88 RBI, batted .287, won five gold gloves and was named to 12 all-star teams. That's not a bad 12-year run, especially for that era.

I think Yaz's 1967 season qualifies as "unbelievable," considering he won the triple crown.

Those averages are heavily weighted towards great seasons in '67 and '70, along with his 40 home runs in '69. The rest of those years he usually had fewer than 20 home runs and an average around .270. That's not very good. And I wouldn't call his Triple Crown season "unbelievable." It was great, but other players posted similar numbers in the surrounding years (Frank Robinson in '66, etc). He won it largely because no one else in the American League had a great season that year. In any case, Aaron posted multiple years roughly equal to Yaz's Triple Crown numbers.

are you the same guy who claims Magnus argues just for the sake of arguing? How about I start a string titled "Yaz one of the greatest ever" so you'll have a place to post this irrelevant bullshit. I don't recall saying Yaz's career was comparable to Aaron or Frank Robinson. I simply said (and it's been three or four times now) he had a better career than Henderson. The numbers bear that out.

as for the triple crown, how often has it been accomplished? Yaz did it in 1967 and it hasn't been done in the 40 years since. I'd say that's pretty remarkable.

I already stated that I don't think Henderson is top 15, but I do disagree with you about Yaz being better than Ricky. I think most people who aren't Red Sox fans would too.

I wasn't around to see Yaz's glory years, so maybe I'm wrong. But I wouldn't put him ahead of Henderson and honestly I don't think he really belongs in the discussion at all. Just my opinion though.

You're arguing just to argue or are just plain dumb. Probably some of both. Yaz was the better fielder, better power hitter, better hitter for average, better at driving runs in. the gap between the two in these areas (with the exception of batting average) is considerable. Rickey scored more runs, drew more walks, and stole more bases. He also had a much larger ego and ran his mouth a lot. Apparently, you're drawn to those attributes. Most blowhards are.
