I have blood drawn to check for various things and it comes back that my blood sugar is fine at the moment but my three month average is high. Could this be stress related or is it a "pre-diabetic" thing?

I've never heard of a connection between stress and a high A1C. High blood sugar isn't a good thing, but it's not necessarily a 'pre-diabetic thing'. It's something that needs to be watched, though.

If you were fasting for the glucose level and it was fine, you're not diabetic. Diabetes does not come and go.

If your HgbA1C was high but your fasting was ok, it means you eat too many high sugar foods.

Why the heck is your doctor doing a HbgA1C if you are not diabetic anyway??? You must have decent insurance.

I take cholesterol medicine and he did a round of blood tests to check it. I just changed doctors and I guess he wanted to be thorough. It was a fasting blood sugar and it was 84.

If you're fasting was 84, you're far from diabetic. But if you're heavy and eating the hell out of some sweets, it's a matter of time.

It is a matter of time anyway, my dad, grandmother, aunts on my mother and father's sides and some cousins are all diabetic.

I have been doing a little better lately, I am suppose to go back and get checked again in three months. I have been moving so I have gotten more exercise than normal.
