Playstation 3 Price Drop

I told ya'll this would be coming soon. $100 less.

 

And who the hell would pay an extra $100 for just 20 Gig more of space? That's kinda stupid on Sony's part. They'll lose money there.

 

too bad it still doesn't have shit for games to make it worth the price. Even when my 360 broke, I got a new one simply because I already had over 20 games. That's only a fraction of what the 360 has. The ps3 will have a long way to go to catch up with great games. Why pay now when it's nothing more than a bluray movie player with shitty games?

I can download HD movies off xbox live now and not have to worry about paying more for an expensive media drive.

 

I broke down and bought a PS3 yesterday. I thought I was getting a killer deal at Target for $499, as Gamestop and Best Buy were both $599. Then I read this today...

I was going to go the XBox route, but the reports of hardware failures scared me off.

I'm not so worried so much about the limited game titles offered. Playstation is a huge name and the game list will grow. I should get enough out of the sports titles to tide me over until the game list expands.

 

it's not just the games, but the quality of them. It appears lots of developers are making the 360 versions better, as more people will be playing them. Virtua Fighter 5 will have online for the 360, but not for the ps3. EA is making madden and NCAA 60 fps on the 360, but 30 fps for the ps3. Stuff like that.

It's possible that it will get great games as time goes on. However, if you're buying a game console to buy games, the 360 is where it's at. I think paying even $499 today is a waste if you're just waiting and waiting for games to come out.

MS just announced at the end of last week that they were extending the warranty on every 360 to 3 years from the date of purchase.

 

To be clear, the 3 red lights "Ring Of Death" is a general hardware failure, and this is what is covered by the extended warranty. Not every problem causes the red light error. For example, a failed hard drive or DVD drive is NOT covered by this extended warranty.

My 360 shit out on me by overheating as well as the DVD drive failing. I had a best buy warranty though, allowing me to return it to the store for a new one.

so not only did they just bump a model down to a price the ps3 launched at, but once these are sold out, every ps3 will be $599 again.
