What they do with him will either convince a lot of people they aren't the Hornets and should help win them fans, or will turn off most of what little fan base they have. They've been saying the right things about it so far, but we'll see what they do.

If the Bobcats could get Marion out of it, sure. Otherwise it's dumb. This is the best draft in recent years, those guys mentioned aren't the only good ones who would be available at #8, and Charlotte already has another first round pick later on. If they just keep adding picks they're going to end up with some nice bench players, but that doesn't mean a lot if you don't have the starters.

Actually, the #8 pick is kind of an odd spot for the Bobcats. Chances are, the players that fit their needs and are good value at the pick will be gone (Oden, Durant, Horford, Brewer). So if we stay put, we will either be forced to take someone that is an imperfect fit (Yi, Noah) or reach. So in that case, I think trading down to about 12 to get Nick Young would be ideal.

If we stay at #8, these are some of the guys that could be available that might be good for some teams, but I think are not great fits here.

    B. Wright - Raw. Needs to get stronger and will likely take a few years to develop (I see a lot of Marvin Williams in him). Not to mention the conniption the ABC'rs will have if we took another Carolina guy.

YI - Does not want to play here. His people want a big market that has a heavy Chinese population. He would best be used by us as trade bait (that J. Richardson & #18 deal GS is rumored to be offering for YI would be sweet).

Conley Jr. - Duplicates what we have in Felton. Don't need another PG only.

Green - Should be solid, and may be ok, but he just screams role player to me. The fact he is good at most things, but great at none would probably make him a safe pick, but this team needs a more dynamic player at this spot.

Noah - Has the intensity and defense to help the team, but he is horrendous on offense. He's got such a bad shot that it is questionable if he will ever be competent there. And that is what this team needs, someone who can score...especially with Okafor's limited offense. We need at least one of our two starting bigs to be able to put points on the board in some way other than put-backs and dunks. Not to mention I can't stand his demeanor and over the top emotional demonstrations (not that that should carry any weight, but still).

I'd personally try to trade up instead of down.

I keep having this reoccuring nightmare where we let Wallace go and somehow end up with Marion.

MSP this morning said that the Bobcats turned down the Nets' offer of the 17th pick for Shawn May.

I guess the feel like they don't need the 17, or that May is worth more than the 17.

I read the east valley tribune...

The deals are seperate as written there.

The deal for Kurt Thomas is we take him and his contract and they give us a pick and future considerations (either their pick or Atlanta's pick next year)

The # 8 has to be a seperate trade.

No one in their right mind would trade #8 for # 24 and a 35 year old with an 8 million dollar contract....
