it will be interesting to see what happens with Mark Texeira. Rumors will keep picking up steam as the deadline approaches, but right now the destinations being mentioned are Baltimore, Anaheim and, of course, Boston and NY. while it would be tough to let Lowell go, having Texeria at first and Youk back at third would be pretty enticing. Whoever gets him is gonna have to give up a shitheap of talent and he's only signed through '08. I'd guess Baltimore will pass and try to sign him when he becomes a free agent.

Texeria could end up in Atlanta. The Braves have been mentioned by him as team that he has always followed. Atlanta is almost certain at this point to let Andruw Jones walk at the end of the season. That would free up enough money to re-sign Texeria.

Texeira is supposed to be an asshole and a shitty clubhouse presence, right?

    No thanks.

who you suppose the Braves would trade? I'm assuming Thorman would be among those sent packing.

Every team in baseball has asked the Braves about Saltalamaccia a catcher with a lot of power. The Braves have turned down a lot of offers for him. Thorman could be had and he also has a lot of power potential. The Braves don't have quite as many pitching porspects as they have in the past.

Uhm ... Atlanta is letting Andruw walk because ownership is cutting payroll yet again, not because they'll spend that money on someone else.

The Braves will let Andruw walk because it's obvious he will never be the kind of hitter they think he should be. He still is the best centerfeilder I've ever seen. Apparently Terry Pendleton has thrown in the towel in trying to get him to hit the ball to right once or twice a week.

Are you delusional or just clueless? It's a contract issue. If Ted Turner still owned the team then Schuerholz would sign Andruw to an extension, but instead he's under orders to further cut payroll. That is the only reason they're letting him go, so pretending that they'll spend the "savings" on some other hitter is absurd.
