LB Arrington hurt in motorcycle crash [IMG]

    NFL.com wire reports
LANHAM, Md. (June 18, 2007) -- Former Redskins and Giants linebacker LaVar Arrington was hospitalized with serious but not life-threatening injuries after his motorcycle crashed on a highway ramp, police said.
Arrington lost control and hit a guardrail, Maryland State Police Sgt. Russell Newell said.

Arrington, who will turn 29 on June 20, was wearing a helmet and alcohol was not involved in the accident, Newell said. Arrington was issued two citations -- one for operating the motorcycle without a proper license, and one for the crash itself.

Washington drafted Arrington No. 2 overall in 2000, and he made three Pro Bowl appearances while with the Redskins. But he injured his knee in 2004, his playing time decreased, and Arrington bought out his contract after the 2005 season.

He then joined the Giants but was injured in October and played only six games last season. New York released him in February.

No matter what anyone thinks of him as a player we should pray he's okay. These things usually don't turn out too good though.

edit: good news as far as cycle crashes go.

Sounds like he just wiped out on an on ramp and hit a guardrail. Probably slid into it, which granted hurts but not life threatening.

I'm certainly not rooting for him to die, but I don't have a lot of sympathy for people who are seriously injured or even killed in motorcycle accidents. Especially paid-out-the-ass athletes/celebs. You should assume the risk before you ride one.

It just doesn't sound like anything more than an accident. He had a helmet on and no alcohol was involved. Anytime so one just has an accident you have to feel a little for them.

Yeah, a little, sure. I hope he recovers, but it's not like a piano fell out of the sky and landed on him. He was riding a bike. There are risks involved with riding a bike that are not involved with driving a car (and I'm sure he has enough money to afford both).

Not taking sides but he is not on any team thus unemployed.

Here's hoping for a speedy recovery

he was riding a motorcycle he wasn't licensed to drive. I won't assume he was out fucking around doing stunts or anything, but not being licensed to drive probably still means not being properly taught how to drive it.
