Supposedly we were offered a second round pick and a late-round pick. If true, looks like a good deal at this point.

Paging Al Davis, Al Davis. Your order for a long throwing QB to allow your rookie a chance to learn is now ready

Green is very old and about finished. The best the fins can hope for is a year or two out of him. That is why he went so cheap. If he were in his prime then they would not have gotten him for that kind of pick. He struggled last year when he returned from injury as well.

I still don't get why Miami was willing to part with 5th round draft pick for a 36 year old quarterback coming off a severe concussion -- especially with Daunte Culpepper on the roster. Yeah, I know DC's coming off injury and has been lackluster at best, but he's still got time. Green won't have the line he had in KC two years ago. How many hits will it take to put him down again?

That whole thing just seems foolish to me.

But what is the real value of a 5th round pick ?

Very few 5th rounders make an N F L roster and very few of the ones that do make any impact

So giving up a pick that more than likely want make the roster for a player that has made an impact but is in his twlight years
Seems to be a wash too me !

A pre-concussion TG would be a great value for a 5th. Post concussion? He did zilch in KC after he came back. And I have to respectfully disagree with your assessment of the value of a 5th round pick. Even if the guy you take is never a starter (although he could be, and often has been), it's very likely you've got a solid special teamer for years to come. Sure, there's a significant risk that a 5th round pick will turn out to be nothing, but isn't there just as great a risk with a player like Green? One good shot -- not great, but good -- and his career could be over. It's a gamble either way, but I'd just as soon put my money on a 5th round rookie.

I'd still take a wobbly Culpepper over a brain-damaged, 36-year-old Green who's one hit away from moving to "The Villages" in south Florida.

Green is what he is, some one for Beck to learn behind for a year or two before taking the reigns. Culpepper is a reminder of Saban and as such has no future in Miami. I don't see him going to a team strictly as a backup however, he may go to a team with questions at QB such as:

Baltimore-McNair doesn't have much tread left, no one behind him really

Buffalo-is Losman the real deal or not?

Chicago-immediate challenge to Grossman if healthy

Dallas-does JJ's ego come into play? Which Romo is the real one? The one that came out of the gate blazing or the one who struggled down the stretch?

Detroit-He could be scary in Martz's offense Calvin Johnson = Randy Moss - the attitude?

Kansas City-are they sold on either Huard or Coyle at this point?

Washington-Synder being similar to JJ in terms of ego does he make the jump?
