From someone who isnt in the "Delhomme camp"....stop it already, Golden Hammer. If youre going to argue a point, fine, but it's really annoying to read someone sounding off like a smartass when theyre not making any points. Raise your level from now on, or drop out of this thing.

 

I’m not worried about his stats, or his mobility, or his leadership, or how many cylinders his car ought to have . . . I’m wondering how his bum thumb is progressing. I guess none of the connected dudes here like pitch or mike have heard any news on that lately, or they would have passed the info along. I hope the reason Fox & Co brought in Carr, and Jake was (by some accounts) throwing poorly in mini camp is not because his thumb is all fucked up.

 

im ok with jake at corterback but we need to get carr on the field as well somewhere either in the slot or in the backfield

carr can make plays and is handsome

jake can hand him the ball and carr can throw it to jake and then jake will throw it to steve smith

BRILLIANT! And here's something I just realized recently that’s crucial . . . Jake is getting less attractive with every passing season. My fiancé confirms this apparent fact. In ‘03 she says Jake was HOT. In ‘04 he was still “pretty hot”. In ‘05 he was “hot but getting a little scruffy lookin”. Last year she says he was just “kinda hotish” . . . and this year so far, “not so hot”. She thinks Carr is ‘03 Jake HOT plus a smidgen hotter”

Jake Delhomme has proven he can not just play his regular game in a win or go home situation, he can elevate it. I can't throw that away. If there's a situation with his thumb, different story, but otherwise he's still the same guy who put up serious numbers in playoff games. I'm still glad we got Carr though.

As far as Key, hmmm. First, I was probably one of the few around here who would have been cool with an early WR in the draft. But if WR was all of a sudden a pressing need because they didn't want Key on the team regardless, fuck that. Instinct tells me that's what really happened, which is pretty disappointing. I surely hope I'm underestimating Jarrett.

 

You didn't answer the question. Which Superbowl QBs got there without help from the rest of the team? You clearly feel that it's possible for the QB to carry the team to the "promised land" regardless of major deficiencies in other areas of the team. Where has this happened before? Or is that maybe an unrealistic expectation?

 

Well, I can settle this whole thing as convincingly as Snotz. A Cajun jockey won the Kentucky Derby and another Cajun won the Preakness yesterday. It's a sign to STICK WITH THE CAJUNS!!!

 

Jake's performance decline was the largest difference for us between '05 and '06 (running game sucked in '05 too). So while it is absolutely correct to say that he wasn't the only one on offense who sucked last season, he was the biggest culprit in us missing the playoffs. Anyone who watched the games should have been able to see that, but some people don't know what they're looking at and others want to defend him to further an agenda.

In any case, he appears to be our best option right now and all is forgiven if he can turn things around and be at least adequate, especially on third downs. But in general, I agree that it would be better off if Golden Hammer would let it go. People know where I stand, they know where he stands, and more yammering isn't going to do much. If he's costing us games early in the season or looks particularly awful in pre-season then we can revisit the debate. Hell, with Carr now in the fold I have no doubt that this will be one of the most popular topics around, so why not take a long break between now and then?

 

the difference in rushing TDs was just as indicative as anything. The defense's complete lack of turnovers after leading the league cumulatively the four years before that was a big problem.

He played his part, sure. The stats don't adequately show that a couple fuckups were at the worst times. And at times he looked to be playing too safe, a la Buffalo 2005. I don't like that Jake any more than I like the one that puts everything up for grabs.

It would make a lot of sense for the multitudes on the asslanta board to not post a new vick thread every five minutes but they will continue to do it anyway
