No doubt. I just think his poor play at the beginning/middle of the year had more to do with his foot and lack of practice time than most people are crediting him with. By January I never heard anyone mention his injury.

 

Paulus sucks at defense. It's that simple. He gets burned constantly. Any team with an athletic back court will give Duke tons of problems with Paulus and Scheyer in at the same time.

 

I'm not saying this just cuz I hate dook, but if some of these guys don't start panning out they could seriously be looking at a UNC 8-20 type season next year. They are certainly going to be worse next season than last. I think you'd have to agree on that.

 

That's what I've been saying the whole time...maybe not to the extreme that you have stated (8-20 is a little harsh) but you get the point.

 

Engin Atsur hobbling around all February and March was equal to Greg Paulus at any time last year. I'm just no big fan of Paulus...he's nowhere close to athletic enough to handle the good point gaurds of the ACC (Singletary and Lawson) he struggles to create against those equal to him and he makes way too many bone-headed plays to be the man at point for Coach K.

 

Paulus did look better by season's end - but only because he was shooting better. He would actually make a decent 2 guard if he could concentrate on shooting instead of directing an offense. But his atrocious defense would look even worse trying to guard elite 2 guards.

dook will never be back to that elite level until they get a true point guard. dook will be relying an awful lot on Henderson next year and some still to show themselves freshmen. Lance Thomas and Zoubek won't strike fear in anybody.

We lose McRoberts. Gain Singler, Smith, and King. Wash at worse. Singler replaces McRoberts by himself at best.

If anyone is going to be worse you might want to start by looking at UNC. Graves does not come close to washing Wright.
