How did this go all day without a thread?

Tragic loss of a 29 year old, from what appears to be a horrible accident.

Pretty good column out of Philly (Inquirer)

seems alcohol was likely a factor in this wreck and in one a couple days prior.

hmmm....thought they said it would be several weeks before the results were in. Witnesses said he was drinking at a bar and turned down owners offer to give him a ride.

An accident reconstruction team determined Hancock was traveling 68 mph in a 55 mph zone when his rented Ford Explorer struck the back of a flatbed tow truck stopped in a driving lane. Mokwa said there was no evidence Hancock tried to stop. He did swerve, but too late to avoid the collision

Medical examiner Michael Graham said at a news conference Friday that the 29-year-old reliever was dead "within seconds" from head injuries in the crash early Sunday on Interstate 64 in St. Louis.

Mokwa said Hancock was speaking with a female acquaintance about baseball and baseball tickets and that the conversation ended abruptly, apparently when the accident occurred.

Jocketty and Cardinals manager Tony La Russa both acknowledged the Cardinals continue to provide alcohol to players after games.
