better might not get you to the SB, but much better than 8-8 will probably at least get you a sniff

The line of reasoning I prefer is having a mix and putting the best out there. It's not always one over the other and all situations can be analyzed independently.

If we dropped Johnson in order to improve another position I could see the reasoning but it doesn't appear we did.

Headcase,,, I'm glad your all enthusiastic,,,,, honestly I hope your right. Btw, I'm not a Key fan at all, but nobody can explain how it makes good football sense to get rid of him now, except that it DOES have rebuilding written all over it, sorry. I've stated that the good news now is our youngens will get more reps and hopefully develop faster.

Are we a better football team than we've been in recent years? Well I don't know that and you don't either. First we gotta see Jake rebound from a pisspoor year, we need to see a better running game, better tackling on D, better special teams and better coaching.

I'm excited about hoping we will see those improvements...

I did not enjoy seeing another NFL team (N.O.) playing their scrubs against us the last game of last season. Not at all.

We got as good of production as we've gotten out of a #2 receiver in a good while. Team was happy with production. O sucked because of the run game, no other excuse.

disagree, and while the first two games weren't good efforts, Key stepped up and was a #1 receiver. We don't have a guy that can do that right now.

Most guys aren't that type player. Smith is, sure. Keyshawn wasn't supposed to be Smitty.

Weinke wasn't that good in the game until the game was well out of hand.
Up to then, his yardage was in no small part two bombs thrown up.

Still think you're overestimating the "gloom and doom" thing. People are pissed about Keyshawn leaving for no good reason. I don't think anyone's expecting the team to collapse.

I think we somewhat are. The defense needed a rebuild, but the offense didn't. Young supporting characters are always welcome and necessary, sure. You don't ever start a rookie receiver unless you damn well know he's ready, or you're desperate. So did we make ourselves desperate for no reason? Like Hurney said, we'll find out.

Smith wants to win. I can see him wanting Keyshawn around.

there's not a whole lot of difference between 7-9 and 8-8.

    Jake pisspoor year

    better running game

    better tackling on D

    better special teams

    better coaching

You list 5 areas for improvement. Key could have been considered involved in 2. His level of involvement is arguable. Given all the other changes that have already happened with coaches and system plus returning personnel and new personnel, I don't view cutting Key as anything close to a season buster. I don't think it's rebuilding as much as trying to make better use of the tools that we have, offense wise. We brought in Key allegedly as the missing piece. We learned that there were a few more pieces that needed attention.

I don't think we know enough of the true reason to determine if it's good or not. I haven't heard a story that I've bought 100% yet. I don't buy the 'It's time to get younger' and I'm not entirely sold on the 'locker room cancer'. I really haven't heard any total bad mouthing from either side.

down a game is a collapse? Shit, meatpile always says 7-9.

Plus, of any one thing to single out to discuss out of everything I threw up there, that was the least consequential, but OK.
