really, though -- what did you expect? that keyshawn was going to be different because he was a panther? keyshawn isn't going to change. TO isn't going to change.

as a manager, i understand dumping a proven talent who is not a team player in favor of hiring an unproven talent whom you can groom. and you definately don't want that bad attitude influencing the impressionable new hires.

i mean, my goodness, keyshawn may have sealed his fate when he goes on national tv and says HE'S going to be teaching jarrett everything he knows. the team-oriented panthers may have been like, "holy shit -- we've got to keep that jackass away from him!" so, they cut keyshawn before he can even put his arm around jarrett and influence him in any way.

those of you that manage understand.

If it turns out that the pissing the power people off scenario IS the reason - and I'm not saying I think it is true or not, that really bothers me. So it's ok for Smitty to beat a teammate until he's hospitalized with serious injuries (that's not lockerroom poison?) but don't piss in the big boys' corn flakes or they'll risk hurting the team just to punish you? It would mean we have a bunch of egotistical 5 year olds in control.

I have no idea what truly is behind this, and the truth may never come out the way this organization operates, but if this is just an attempt to punish someone for questioning authority while still playing hard on the field, then this team ain't going anywhere and it's all really pathetic.

    it's a load of shit.

the powers that be better hope Carter and the Rookie produce or they will look like idiots. panthers can't go 8-8 again without people looking at the top and asking why.

sad thing is we are rebuilding. an entirely new offensive scheme with alot of new players and a new coach. the defense is replacing lost and old parts. if you look at the NFC championship game in 2005, we have changed more than half the team and the fact is we haven't even started training camp. After training camp, we may have a new starting QB and RB.

I don't understand why people are still bitching about this. Keyshawn played his ass off for the Panthers, there's no doubt about that but you have to ask the question...did the Panthers get better as a team while he was here? The answer is a resounding NO. Steve Smith still got double teamed (so much for taking pressure off him), the running game actually got worse (so much for the much touted blocking help), and we were last in the league on 3rd down conversions (so much for moving the chains).

The Panthers are better off now. There was no way the younger guys were going to get their reps with Key on the team because Key was either going to get his balls or he was going to raise a big stink and fuck up team chemestry, which he may have been doing already but, we will probably never know that for sure. I have nothing against the guy and I appreciate how hard he played for the Panthers but, this was the right move.

    two things:

    1. so, you were happy with last year's performace?

    2. when you return 95% of your starters, it's hardly rebuilding.
