assuming Minter doesn't regress more, assuming that Williams can be on the field 75% of the snaps, sure. Unfortunately wasn't 2006 Williams' best year injury-wise since 2001 or 02?

12 games, the most since starting a full season in '02.

Yeah, that was 2 more than '05 and '04 combined. I just not sure if any other vet is that much more durable now, except for Griffith.

just looking at the video clips, he looks like a MLB as does Shaw (maybe a better backup). i've learned not to read too much into these clips so won't say that he is, but if so why not move Morgan back outside in hopes of keeping him healthy and go ahead and stick Beason inside? Morgan is probably not great outside but might be better than the current alternatives and Beason wouldn't be asked to learn two positions right off the bat ... seemed like this set Davis back though i would suspect the transition from WLB to MLB not as tuff as safety to SAM.

i'm kinda expecting that they will try to move one of our corners to safety. thoughts?

personally, I don't like it because Morgan is bigger, and at this point, less sudden than Beason.
In theory, the idea of moving the more temporary player outside is valid, but he doesn't fit as well out there. Of course, I also believe Beason is a weakside, and with Shaw we have the ability to keep him out there long term (if not short term).

one of our top 3? I hope not. It's crossed my mind too, but if that happens we're short a nickel, and the guy we can spare is Gamble. While Gamble trails a play well, he's not a safety in any other respect.

Gamble would be my last choice. Lucas? Do we have any viable options to plug in at nickel if they did make a move like this? I can't remember who played there last year when Lucas went down? Might be easier to find a nickle than a safety at this point? The brainfarts are unrelenting this morning.

I would think they'll resign Williams, then hope that somebody young and decent gets cut in late August.

Here's what I like about Robinson:

"He is one of the finest punt returners in the history of college football and he could make a very nice living on special teams at the next level"

    No injuries reported.

If Beason's best position as a pro is WLB then that is where he should play from day one. If Davis and Beason are strong at OLB then we will have an easier time covering a scrub at MLB. I am hopeful that Shaw can be our future at MLB.
