He mentioned somewhere that it would be "awkward" returning to the Panthers knowing they tried to trade him, Jenkins has a quirkie personality and that's putting it mildly. at this point I hope we trade him, but don't just give him away.

Meant to bring this up before but didn't, and if anyone else speculated on this I missed it.

The Redskins were gung ho to trade their #6 away not all that long ago, but we've never heard anything attaching them to the Jenkins speculation.

Couple years ago it might have been different, but these days I'd have my doubts about Jenkins being worth the #6 pick (or a first rounder in general). Throw in also that they drafted two young DTs with their 5th and 6th round picks last year.

Then again, you could argue he's easily as good or better than the veterans they have on roster at the moment. And of course, it's well known that Dan Snyder loves trading awy draft picks for veterans.

Any thoughts on the Redskins from someone who follows them more closely than I do?

That was the 6 for the 31 and Briggs, not the 6 straight up for Briggs. Do you think they see Jenkins as enough value and a big enough need to drop from 6 to 14?

These guys tend to make you think they might.

29 yrs old already, could get by with him for a couple of years and we'd be right back in the same boat (Minter) as we are now.

Some guy over at Panthers huddle says Jenkins has been traded to the skins, it just hasn't be announced.

    I hope that's not true.

I've seen the post you're talking about. I'm pretty sure that was just some goofy speculation. As I recall, the Redskins don't have a 2nd or 3rd round pick, but I seriously doubt we're giving them one just to move up 8 spots.

(and honestly, I'd scream if we did)

    yeah, just awful, uneducated speculation.

We wouldn't turn down the 6 pick at all. But I doubt we'd do it at the cost of our own 2 and 3.

Let's say we landed Landry at 6. Anderson at 14, or Willis, or Olsen, or whoever. Still have four needs. The idea, theoretically, was to get 4 picks in the top 90. Two high priced rookies wasn't the idea.

Trade down from 14 is the logical response, so here goes - you have to trade down to 24 just to get an equitable 2nd out of the deal. Really not likely at all to get a 3rd out of any one deal, and if you're going to trade around all day, well, nobody does that. Eventually people just stop answering when you call.
