You should give Harry his blinders back.

That shitty conference has produced some pretty good NCAA scares over the years, and while the bottom certainly is weak, you are fooling yourself if you think that Winthrop, Coastal Carolina, and College of Charleston have not played good basketball through the years (and please don't try to come up with one or 2 down years to say that they have always sucked). And obvously, you must not ever have been to Winthrop, because they have a pretty nice little arena, and the campus is way nice than UNCC.

As for the pay, what is Lutz pulling down now? Marshall was at 250 -300K I think.

So, he'd be giving al of that up for a shot at the A10 title :woohoo:, an delusionally unrealistic fan base, and absolutely no shot at any of the decent hometown prospects. Yep, that's a definite step up right there.

Of course, none of this means jack shit because he is going to Wichita.

My sister went to Winthrop. I've been there 100 times. It's an old dump. The coliseum is crappy and smells bad. They play in the #29 RPI conference in the nation. The program had a couple of nice years with Marshall at the helm. But now its over, and no one will remember who they are in 5 years.

BTW, snob, you obviously haven't been to Charlotte's campus recently. It's more than halfway through a complete metamorphasis. They have spent literally hundreds of millions on buildings and improvements in the past 5-10 years, with much more on the way, including the new $65m student union about to break ground.

    Examples of other new buildings:

25 years is now old? We should probably get rid of the Smith Center then I guess.

Didn't smell bad when I was there. Maybe it's just you that stinks. :woohoo:

Anyway, like I said, none of this matters, because Marshall took another job.

Edit - Holy crap, I could have sworn that CoC was in the same league as Winthrop. :banghead:

That's cool. I had just read that the Smith Center never really made any money. Didn't know if it was still that way.

I actually tried to find some numbers, but couldn't. My guess is that there is some wort of accounting (e.g., not including advertising, donation, or possibly even basketball ticket prices) that is causing that to look like a loss. To be honest, if the Dean Dome doesn't generate a profit, then I can't think of any facility that would, because I would think that its revenues would be bigger than just about any facility out there.

    That's just a guess though.
