Panthers willing to trade Jenkins

GBN now has Jenkins going to the Rams for a conditional 2nd that can escalate to a 1st in next year's draft on their mock with trades. Anybody good with that? Frankly I'd rather have this year's 2nd and be done with it.

 

Of course we need the picks now, but there is the uncertainty of whether he will be a pro bowl type player or an injury riddled one.

 

I'd rather have this year's 2nd too, but we're unlikely to get it. If the terms of the escalation are reasonable, I'd probably take it. He'll probably be motivated enough next year to play pretty well, esp against us. Make sure the terms are stated in the things he's good at.

 

the thing is that if Denver is unable to move up, we'll have leverage to force the pick to be in this year's draft not next year's. The longer it takes to get the deal done, I'm afraid either team becomes willing to settle for Harrell and we'll be stuck with an unhappy and maybe disruptive Jenkins. Not a good thing.

 

Dangle him on draft day once the top 2 are off the board and somebody realizes they need a DT and Jnekins is way better then anybody left on their draft board.

Say we're set on doing the deal with KC in a straight trade down without Jenkins included. That'll give us 23, 45, & 54. I'm OK with that for starters. I'm thinking there's better value in the 3rd than in the 2nd. The Rams can give us 52 straight up for Jenkins and we could deal the pick for two 3rd rounders (maybe more) depending on who we trade it to or just deal him to Denver (throw in our 5th to balance things out) for both their 3rds. Six day one picks can fill a lot of holes and do it fairly cheaply.

off the top of my head using GBN's value chart

Buffalo for 74 & 92 = 352 pts

Denver for 70 & 86 = 400 pts

Oakland for 65 & 99 = 370 pts

San Francisco for 76, 97, & 124 = 370 pts

San Diego for 93, 96, & 129 = 287 pts

these deals all work out to 2nd round value pointwise, but give us far more options than a single pick this year or next.

Geoff Hobson, of Bengals.com, reports the Cincinnati Bengals have canceled the visit of unrestricted free-agent Ian Scott (Bears), according to an AFC source.

wonder if something is up with a Jenkins Trade?

 

Hope so. It's not looking too promising elsewhere these days. They don't have a 3rd rounder either. I get the feeling the longer this goes on, the less we're gonna get in return.
