It'll be interesting if word on this from Jenkins himself pops up. If he stays quiet (which I hope they have strongly advised him to do to avoid us trading him to some team like the Raiders) and we are patient we may yet get something good in a deal.

GBN has us trading down with KC in their latest mock, but doesn't include Jenkins in the deal. Given GBN's trade value chart, the two Chiefs picks add up to 1120 pts vs 1100 for the 14th. That puts Jenkins value in the trade to that of a 6th rounder.

The discussion on the other thread was that the Jenkins value hadnt been factored in yet (or something). Without Jenks, I like that trade down. 23rd looks like a good place to be drafting for the guys we're probably looking at. Nelson, Griffin, Olsen, a LB who isnt Willis, maybe a DL.

Without Jenkins that is a good trade for us. We might still get Nelson at that pick and if not we still have other good options and an extra pick.

Would be cool to have Jenkins and have Branch fall to us at the 14th pick, we'd hold all the aces against teams needing help at DT.

<<The Panthers were eagerly trying to trade defensive tackles early in the 2006 season. Keeping 10 DL overall, and 6 DTs (eventually cutting Tony Brown, who started for Tennessee), the team failed in an attempt to trade - but everyone assumed it was Brown or Kindal Moorehead on the block. Ma'ake Kemoeatu and Damione Lewis were new - and therefore not tradeable. It's relatively unlikely the team was going to get anything more for Jordan Carstens, a 2005 starter, than Brown or Moorehead.

But what if they kept 6 DTs in hopes od dropping Jenkins, but never got the value?>>

Excellent point, although they really couldnt expect to get value with him coming off those injuries.

With the way we've apparently handled this, via NFL circles at the owners meeting without telling Jenks ahead of time, and letting it get leaked to the media, does anybody actually think Jenks will give a shit about performing for the Panthers this year if a deal doesn't get done?

The whole thing is bad. I have no idea what led to it or what will happen, but it seems bad.
