This is by far the best FA move that the panthers made the offseason:drummer:  .now in Case Jake like he played last year.We have a guy in Carr who can come in and get the job done .This is NOT anther Weinke who can’t run when he feel the pusher From D that try to take him down for the sacks .I hope that Jake will a excellent Season and that he don’t have to miss any game do to any Injuries. With that said if anything happen to Jake. And he can’t play. We know that have an excellent backup QB who would still be a Texans had he had An Oline that can protect him

I don't know, that Trueblood signing's easily in the top 5. :elvis:

I'd say it would take regression from that point to make us make that change. It wasn't a matter of Weinke didn't get it done so we needed a better push.

So far Carr has sucked ass. Upgrading the backup is great...but how about upgrading some starters?

Poop on the email list said his inside source said it would have been Carr. His source was pretty good at the time. It would have been Carr even if Peppers had been available. His source could have been wrong, but both papers are saying the same thing. He was the top name on the Panthers board. There were alot of questions about Peppers at the time.

if you're inferring that $3 million is a huge anounr for a backup (and therefore it implies he's more), you're wrong.

David Carr's contract is worth $6 million over two seasons. He received a $3 million signing bonus.

That's about right. As backups go, Carr is near the top of the payscale along with Brian Griese. That the Panthers were so aggressive getting a deal done recognizes that Carr isn't your average backup. He'll try to rehab his career and be ready to go if Jake Delhomme goes through another prolonged funk.
