As good as nelson is, he'd be a pretty big reach at 14, considering he's a projected late 1st round pick. Olsen is the most complete TE in the draft and would be a much better value at 14. Most mock's have Nelson going 24 or later. I'm not sure why so many people want us to reach when we have a good pick.

Did Davidson use Winslow because he's all that, or because Davidson's system utilizes the TE alot?

Winslow had 89 fuckin' catches last year. Olsen is no Winslow, but neither is Gaines.

sorry, but I don't know many at all that have Nelson as a late first. Nelson is a better prospect than Olson in my opinion and I'm gonna go ahead and guess that's more or less a majority opinion.

At this point, it makes no since to pass on Nelson. Especially for a TE.

I know that Davidson started moving Winslow more often than Carthon, instead of letting him get choked at the line. I think that just a matter of using the talent you have. We don't have a Winslow. We could end up with someone like Patrick, but not a TE who catches 89 balls.

Winslow was one of two weapons they actually had - Edwards the other, and Edwards hasn't proven especially explosive either.

Could've simply been a matter of the QBs going toward WInslow. The O didn't really distribute more catches (don't know on targets) after Davidson took over. It was about 50/50.

The very earliest I've seen him going on a reputable site (nfl draft countdown) is 22 to the 'boys. I think Kiper and PFT have him going 24 to NE. He isn't even a top 32 player according to Scouts Inc. Gill Brandt NFL.com has him in the third tier of players (21 and up section). Vic Carucci of the same site has him at 24.

Considering everything I've read from professional sources has him going at 24 or so, and as 24 is essentially in the last 1/4 of 32, I would consider it late first round pick.
