    Hakeem was 7 foot.

ten years ago Oden would have been a "project" in the NBA. he might be Bill Russel or he might be Yinka Dare.
I still dont think the Bobcats wind up with either the#1 or#2 in the lottery.

Hakeem was listed at 7 feet, but most experts put him around 6'10 at best. He was noticably smaller and shorter than Ewing and Robinson, two true 7 footers.

As far as Oden being a project 10 years ago, damn. You must be crazy. 10 years ago Shawn Bradley was the #2 pick, Big Country was top 5, and fucking Todd Fuller was top 10.

Oden is a top 5 pick in any draft in the last 20 years. Hell, Yinka Dare was a top 10 pick. Projects regularly get drafted very high, so I'm not really sure what your point was. Maybe you're saying he doesn't compare to the centers that came out 20 years ago. Well, that's fine. But the other positions this year don't compare either, 20 years ago the NBA was at it's absolute talent peak.

I just think Oden is over hyped, by no fault of his own. hes so raw but hes 7-0 so scouts drool.

and Robinson and Ewing had high top fades for the extra 2 inches :scholar:

    lol

Good point about the haircuts ;)

And I agree, Oden is overhyped. I'm of the opinion though that due to his injury we didn't see the Oden we might have seen. I thought he looked amazing last night, especially considering he was playing against 2 other lottery picks in the front court. If his teammates could control a blocked shot OSU had a shot to be very much in that game, despite Florida shooting lights out.

I don't think we are watching the same guy. He's good for at least 15 and 10 vs the current slate of NBA centers right now.

He's got a nice jump hook, range from 12 feet, can use either hand, and has a very quick jump.

He may actually stay, but I don't think he will get better vs guys he can just overpower. He should come out.

    Fixed.

OSU missed a bunch of open 3s.

Bobcats will probably be the number 4 or 5 lottery pick. Beat the crap out of the Wizards tonight

Yeah, that too. It was almost an either/or. Florida would have beaten almost every other team by 25 that night, yet OSU was still hanging around. Oden was a monster, they should have kept feeding him instead of jacking up 25 3 pointers. Oh well.

Think about how small Shaq was in college and how big he is today, and how dominant he has become because of his size. I'm not saying that Oden will be the next Shaq, but with good coaching and good utilization of his skills, he could become a dominant big man in the NBA. I doubt he will have an instant impact, but after a couple years of NBA experience he will get a lot better. I don't see him anywhere near the "bust" category, I think he'll be a good pick. Think about it, he's a 7 footer and he can move decently. If the Bobcats drafted him he'd be a hell of a lot better than Brezec. To have him down low, and a group of players that includes the man on his way to stardom in Gerald Wallace, Okafor, Felton, May, Morrison, Hermann (the man can play), and if we got Rashard Lewis in the offseason. Playoffs.

Oden doesn't have the passion that Durant has for the game of basketball.

Durant has already applied himself to improve his skills/talents. He lives and breathes basketball. On the other hand, Oden sees the NBA as a paycheck.

Which player would you have playing 82 games a season?
