If Jesus had married and had a child

That question has been debated since the day Jesus made the claim. And whether you agree or not, if it is found (although scientifically impossible) that Jesus was buried or had a kid and a wife, it would destroy the very basis of Christianity in that he did not ascend and was not pure.

That's the only reason that guy made the documentary that spawned this thread. He wants to disprove Christianity. His evidence is flimsy. His work is shoddy. And there are many contradictions that he can't explain. There are many things that you just 'have' to believe in order for it to be true. The same arguments I make against the bible.

Every religion is based on faith. You have it, I don't. For me, God has never and will never exist. It's impossible.

It seems to me that I hear about a suicide bomber just about every day. Why would these people die for a lie ? Remember Heaven's Gate, or Jim Jones? People die for lies all the time.

 

The bible itself states that Jesus was buried. If they found a tomb with his DNA that would not prove he did not ascend to heaven. Quite the contrary it would prove he did exist something many fail to acknowledge. Having a wife and child would have made him less than pure? I am not sure how. Pure means without sin. Would getting married or having children be considered a sin?

 

Only a portion of the prophecies pertaining to Him were within His control as a human being.

 

I see your point, but being crucified, stoned, drawn and quartered, or burned at the stake is far different than pushing a button or flying a 767 into a building.

 

Or maybe a Budduist monk setting himself on fire. There was also a number of atrocities commited on Muslims during the Crusades because of their religion. Saying that your religion's icons suffered more than other religion's really isn't a very good rebuttal.

 

Hey, What if you are wrong? Is living a Christian life so bad? If I'm wrong I am out absolutely nothing and I still lived a life of serving others and help set an example for others on how to live. If you ARE wrong you have that eternal lake of fire to look foward to. Love God the most, Love your neighbor as your self, Do not commit murder, do not steal, idolatry, do not commit adultry, obey your parents. What could possibly be wrong with this kind of lifestyle? It is a win win deal man! If you already live this kind of life and still believe there is no God, how hard would it be to take that extra step and have faith that there is a God and start trusting in Him? God will not lead you down a path to destruction. I will have life everlasting!!!!!!!!!! and so will you somewhere!

 

The difference is that all those guys you mention thought they were suffering and dying for something real. The disciples would have known first hand if Jesus had rose from the dead. If he did not do this then they would have known that Christianity was a lie. It is hard to find people willing to be martyrs for something they know is false.

 

How do we know that the disciples were martyred?

 

We know that Paul was from the Bible. The rest we are not sure about but the stories I have heard say they were all killed in various gruesome ways. Peter is said to have been crucified upside down.
