Kevin Durant is the best freshman ever?

    ... kinda ran out of room in the title, but I've been thinking back on the 20 or 25 years I've been a college hoops fan, and wondering if I can remember anyone better. Maybe there was a player in that group that was as dominant among his peers as Durant, but head to head? I think Durant would own anyone I can think of. Yes, even the original black Jesus.

    As for D00k Vitale trying to say that Wright of UNC-CH is better... with all due respect, Wright is a nice player, but he's more of a stat compiler than a dominant force in the game. I've watched 8 of his games this year and I lose him on the floor very often. When I watch Texas play, I always know where Durant is, and it's usually making some kind of sick play. His game has zero holes in it. He is about as complete of a college player as I've seen in a long, long time, and definitely the best freshman.

    Not a good argument. There are multiple options on Wright's team where on Texas Durant is the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd option.

    durant can beat you inside and out. he can play D and handle the ball well for a big man. he has the tools and the body. his game is more suited for the NBA than wright, thus he gets the nod imo. no question. best ever freshman is debatable though. i know its conjecture on my part but many high schoolers have opted to go straight to the NBA like Garnett, Kobe and Lebron James that may have set the standard higher.

    Carmelo Anthony led Syracuse to the national title as a freshman. Durant is talented, but if he can't do that too he doesn't belong in the discussion.

    Durant is a great player, no doubt, but Rick Barnes is bound to fuck it up sooner or later.

    I think D.J. Augustin is a better freshman point guard than Ty Lawson. Augustin is flat out disgusting and working with much less than Lawson.
