can you use butter in the pan when making fried eggs?

maybe the hangup is margarine. If you use margarine to fry chicken and/or eggs, I guess technically you're not using butter.

does that phony-speakin' old whore Paula Deen use margarine?

Equal amounts of butter and oil = no burn. Thank you Paula Deen.

Actually, no. We got a set of Emerils cookware for X-mass (its actually bad ass and one of the best household investments weve made). My pancakes are more on the crepe side anyway. I dont really dig the american style pancake, its one thing i havent been able to adapt too, ill go with waffles instead if im at a restaurant.

are you saying you can grill with butter?

grilling in a flat pan on the stove is called frying.

Well, i dont even have a grill, its an electric stovetop.

Of course you can fry with butter, just depends what you're frying. I dont use it much to be honest. Turn the heat down if its burning, thats what the knobs are for.

You can, but i really dont like the way they taste. I find the best method is actually using the Pan spray cans. You get really nice clean pretty eggs and they never stick at all. Really good for sunny side up which is the way i love'em.

Not necessarily, you'd saute potatoes or onions, you've got to flip/turn regularly in sauteing.

All you need is fat/oil in the pan to call it frying. Obviously you southerners are probably more familiar with Pan frying where you fill the pan half way up for fried chicken.

But we fry sausages, eggs, rashers, black and white pudding with some mushrooms or tomatoes all the time for breakfast. We dont call it sauteing. Hell, the dish is commonly refered to as "A Fry".

no, you're wrong. you can fry on top of your stove in butter. I do it with eggs all the time. I've never heard of sauteed eggs.
