Garnet and Black game...April 14th!!!

I have always thought of Columbia, S.C. as Fayetville without a swamp.

 

It's funny. I grew up in Columbia; went to college there and I couldn't wait to get out. But after 20 years away, it's nice to go back every now and then. It has changed dramatically since I went to school...particularly the Riverbanks. 5 Points appears the same. In fact, some of the drunks that hung out in 5 Points when I was there are still there...and still drunk!

I love Andy's Deli...the best I found anywhere

 

Yeah...the whole "Vista" section was just starting when I left. Now it's bar after bar. The whole Riverbanks thing is awesome. The new baseball stadium will be over there as well.

 

columbia bar scene kills chapel hills. game day scene isnt even in the same zip code.

 

I live in the Vista right now. Its pretty cool but to say bar after bar is silly. unless you count Longhorn, Subway,Mellow Mushroom, the mexican restaurant and the ice cream place as bars. theres about 6 or so good ones. Flying Saucer,Uncle Louies,Wild Hare, Liberty and the new Wild Wing. thats about it. as far as the riverbanks, maybe I missed something because there is nothing there. a little strip of condos being built and a childrens museum.

5 points is a ton of bars where you can drink .25 draft until you puke or punch a bouncer. its not the safest place in the world either. its like a homeless shelter down there. def for college kids.

still, I would rather hang out on Franklin St

 

Strange...last year we went...tons of bars down there...Damon's, a blues place, several others. Oh well...guess it's just my imagination. :newsmile54:

There were tons of people...of course it was after a game.

And Collin...no the bar scene isn't better than New York or New Orleans...but there are a ton of them. Better than anything around here...be it anywhere in NC or SC. And from what I've gathered, you really wouldn't know what is or isn't a good scene...women, music, and booze create the good scene. 3 things that you don't appear to have much knowledge of.

 

sorry, Damons and a Jillians(more chains) and the 5-6 other places I mentioned. some of the places are only open 2 days a week, or not even open on Sunday. better than anywhere in NC and SC? Wilmington has a good downtown, Charleston kills Columbia, even Charlotte has as much variety downtown. Buckhead is 10x's better and ATL has a 5 points too. no doubt after a game theres a ton of people. its a cool area but nothing special other than its crammed in a 1/2 mile strip.

 

Charleston is WAY over rated. I got married there. Not a fan of the night life. Wilmington, I've never been. Buckhead isn't what it was. All thugs these days according to my buddy that lives there. He prefers Virginia Highlands...but even he likes the Columbia bar scene...and he went to Clemson. Charlotte doesn't have all the 21-23 year old women to look at.

It was. I concede. Columbia's bar scene is awful. I will say...

The Spring Game will be fun as hell. 50,000+, $10 per head. Get to get in a little tailgating...
