Shit. I use DVDDecryper and DVDShrink for everything. NEVER had a problem.

What exactly is the problem? I am using Ripit4me, DVDDecryptor, FixVTS,and DVD Shrink and have had no problems. Saw 3 was the mother of all movies to rip. They loaded it with a shit load of dummy sectors (90+) and messed things up. Then down loaded FixVTS and current versions of Ripit4Me and havn't been slowed down.

I think AnyDVD and CloneDVD together cost 60 bucks? I have been tempted to buy it as they are pretty good from what I read about updates.

I've only had one movie that wouldn't burn using just DVD shrink, bad sector info, etc. DVDSanta made quick work of it.

I am assuming DVDSanta takes the place or is a substitute for Shrink. Does it also use Nero or DVDDecryptor to burn? I googled it and saw it wasn't free. Is it worth the $29.99?

I have been using DVDfabdecrypter to rip to HD, then DVDshrink/Nero to burn, and I have not come across a DVD that has failed yet. (Granted I don't burn more than a couple a week, but that combo has still been successful for me).

I normally use it for tv shows I record directly to my harddrive, avi, mpeg, etc. BUT, there is a function that allows you to burn DVDs using the FOB files that Decrypter creates. I've only used that a couple times to make copies of my own discs. If Decrypter can't read the disc and create the TSVideo folders, then I doubt it will work for you. It does not use Nero or anything else. And while it takes longer than Nero to make a DVD, I've found the quality and consitency is worth it.

    I'm lost...
Saw 3 is one of the movies I was trying to burn (was unsuccessful and returned it yesterday though). First I tried using just DVD Shrink which used to work great for me until recently. Now I can hardly get it to even open any discs, much less decrypt them. Last time I had an issue, I installed AnyDVD which added another hour to the process, but at least I was able to get it to work. Well now my AnyDVD trial has expired so I'm hosed again. I've tried every free piece of software mentioned in this thread, and none of them work for me. Ripit4me was able to Rip the files to my hard drive, but I can't get it burnt onto a DVD from that point because none of my programs are able to open the VOB files. I get an array of different error messages, depending on which program I use to try to open the files.

Go to www.afterdawn.com and look in the forums under Shrink.
    Great site for this stuff

It took me almost 2 days to get Saw 3 done but you gotta make sure you have the most current versions of Ripit4Me, as well as DVD Decryptor (DVDDecryptorFab works as well) then RipVTS, and Shrink. You run Ripit4me and it kicks into Decryptor and RipVTS automatically. Just click it and come back in a half hour or so. Then run shrink. Making sure you have the most updated Ripit4Me is the key

I'm having a problem with a movie file I have that's in .avi format. I have tried using Nero to burn it but I first need to convert it to DVD format, then Shrink it and then on to Nero. I tried Nero (but the file is too big for a single disc) Since Shrink will reduce it what/how do I convert it to something Shrink recognizes it. The "Bible" doesn't mention this
