How does caffeine effect you folks? I used to be able to drink Sundrops, Mt Dew or coffee all the way up to bedtime and sleep like a baby. The past 2 months if I get 4 hours of sleep it's unusual. I am trying to just drink caffeine free drinks after about 4pm to see if it helps

Really, you shouldn't have more than 2 cups of coffee a day. That's what I learned from a nurtitionist, and that's what works for me. I definitely stay away from stuff like Mt. Dew, because the high levels caffeine and sugar causes such a steep crash.

Paul, you might have developed caffeinism, which is basically an addiction to caffeine that leads to insomnia. Dependency can also lead to problems with your digestive system. I would definitely try to cut back.

Paul, just do a search of caffeine effects on the body and you'll get lots of reading info.

But is sounds like you are on the right track with the no caffeine after 4pm route.

That's me. My typical day is drink 4-6 cups of coffee, and 3-4 (diet and caffeinated) soft drinks. Since my first post I have cut out caffeine in the evenings and have slept great. Still drink whatever up until say 6

That's me too, and I think that's what my wife is hoping for.

I do 400mg of caffeine a day in pill form. Only drink water during the day and wine in the evening. Last dose about 2:00pm. Exercise 6-7pm.

Sleep OK, but usually wake every 2 hours or so.

No caffeine consumed here except for extreme circumstances (like kids driving me crazy and giving me a headache). Caffeine then helps with the headache. I can't even remember the last time I had a caffeinated soda before today! First thing my doctor told me when I wasn't sleeping last summer: get off the caffeine!
