Tell you what, he was interviewed over the SB weekend and he said that going #1 was a goal of his. I dont know if he meant it to come off as bad as it did but it definately seemed he's after top dollar by the sounds of it.

Cleveland was his childhood team and he seems to be using that #2 pick as leverage.

Your memory is imperfect. You claimed on the basis of that competition that Croyle had the strongest arm in that draft class, which was clearly ludicrous. And for the record, I didn't say that such contests were meaningless, I said that anyone who judges QBs by that or the combine more than their game performances is insane. That might be why I said "Not that it means much" this time. I've been saying all along that based on game film it's clear that Troy Smith had good arm strength, but this backs that up. And for whatever it's worth, Croyle won that competition with a throw of 66 yards.

I think its your memory that's imperfect, i never claimed such a thing. I was comparing Croyle and Young, that's it.

Agreed, i just found it humorous that you use the same competition this year to back "your" player.

    But lets move on.

How do feel about the Weis/Fox/Davidson connection in reguards to Brady?

Well i'll take it back then and admit stupidity rather than quibble over the word "Seems"

Again, how do you feel about the Weis/Fox/Davidson connection. Do you think it might have more bearing than many people want to believe?

I'm with you on all of that. And not just the contract, we'd have to give up a lot to move up.

    Surely they wouldn't?

And also this will be the first Don Gregory draft, wonder if they want to take picks away from him?

OTOH, this Fox/Weis/Davidson network coming together at the same time Quinn is available is definitely worth watching.

it's highly unlikely that the team would zero in on anyone at this point. It's even less likely they'd spend time trying to trade up to get him not knowing by any means where he could be taken.

Agreed, I think they're just doing their due diligence at this point, and I don't find it that far-fetched that they might be doing Weis a favor as well.

You know, I think I'd rather not follow college prospects as much as I do because I get too invested in it considering that I have no control over the team's picks. For instance, I'm convinced that Levi Brown is not a first round tackle and if we somehow took him at #14 I'd be very bummed. Similarly, I loved DeAngelo Williams last year and would have gone insane if we had passed him up for someone I didn't like.

Damn dude, the curiosity in myself couldnt help it. Its not cricket to take my quote out of context like that. Not cool at all, you definately lose some respect for that.

Fraid not. Croyle proved it at one of those ESPN college challenges after the Super Bowl.

maybe so, though there's no amount of control in the rest of it either. I just think the whole thing's interesting.
