How can anyone intelligently argue that the SEC is not the best football conference? Mich Ohio St would rarely escape with less than 2 losses a year and USC would find it difficult having to play a minimum of 6 highly contested games versus the 3 maybe 4 they play each year. There's just no comparison to the SEC

USC beat the snot out of the SEC's conference runner up. they'd have pounded the shit out of Florida too.

neat, but even IF that wouldn't change anything about the strength of the conference

Even if you assume that USC wins an imaginary game against Florida the SEC was still the best conference last season.

USC is a great team and would be at the worst #2 in any conference they played in but the rest of the Pac-10 sucks including California.

true or not, that doesn't address dawgswood's claim that "USC would find it difficult having to play a minimum of 6 highly contested games versus the 3 maybe 4 they play each year."

USC played one of the toughest schedules in 2006. And I'm not so sure any SEC team played "6 highly contested games" in 2006. Fla, Auburn and LSU will "highly contest" the best teams from any other conference. The rest? not so much.

Ok, so name another conference with 3 teams that would highly contest the top teams from the others.

That really wasn't the point of my post. some dude, I can't even remember his name, was basically implying that USC would have trouble coping in the SEC, because the Trojans would have six tough games instead of 3 or 4. My response is that USC's schedule wouldn't be that much tougher as a member of the SEC than it is now, especially if they kept their much stronger non-conf. slate.
