LOL, I am sorry that it did state the error favored dook. It's ok slynuts, you can admit once in your life that you are wrong, instead of just proving it by your actions over and over.

If Clemson could play anything resembling a defense with 4 seconds left we wouldn't be talking about it. Clemson choked on the last play of the game.

    ACC officials admit error

GREENSBORO -- ACC basketball officials acknowledged Friday that a timing error was made in the closing seconds of Duke's 68-66 victory over Clemson on Thursday night.

John Clougherty, the conference's coordinator of basketball officials, said the league reviewed the game film and discussed the clock controversy with the officials, Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski and Clemson coach Oliver Purnell.

"The league acknowledges that a timing error was made in not starting the game clock at the correct time," Clougherty said.

Clougherty said the situation was resolved internally, but he did not elaborate.

The confusion started shortly after 19th-ranked Clemson's Vernon Hamilton made a layup to pull the Tigers to 66-63 with five seconds left at Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham.

Josh McRoberts' inbounds pass intended for Greg Paulus went right to Hamilton, who hit a 3-pointer to tie it with 1.8 seconds left. The game seemed headed for overtime.

But officials stopped play to review the time remaining and restored the clock to 4.4 seconds. The clock, which stopped on Hamilton's layup, did not restart on the steal until the ball was almost in the basket -- a pause of more than a second.

McRoberts then inbounded the ball to Jon Scheyer. He dribbled to near midcourt and passed to David McClure, who made a layup as time expired to give No. 10 Duke the victory.

The Blue Devils are 4-2 in the ACC and 17-3 overall. Clemson is 4-3 and 18-3.

"I am satisfied with their review in this matter," Purnell said Friday. "We now need to put 100 percent of our focus on our game with Virginia on Sunday, and that is what we will do, starting with today's practice."

A Duke spokesman did not immediately return a telephone message Friday seeking comment from Krzyzewski.

growing up a Carolina fan my Dad has always told me, when you go into Durham, you have to treat the game like you're already down 10 points. Its the "K" advantage. So it forces you to play hard the entire game. Is it right? no...but Carolina fans can't complain about refs or missed calls, especially now, Hansborough travels alot more than he gets called for.

I think Purnell handled it with alot of class, and anything that happens in Durham like that, doesn't surprise me anymore.

    my 2 cents.

People were bitching about Carolina in the 70's and 80's about UNC getting all the calls and Dean Smith paying the refs.

90's and 00's also. Fans of every team bitch about the refs favoring another team, especially when thier team loses. In no way is it just isolated to Duke/UNC fans.

I just wish the dookies would come clean. If it were my heels I would admit we were given the game. Nothing I can do about it, it's a win. But no, they're worse than Republicans answering a question with off topic bullshit about the dems.:nopityA:
