not to derail the subject of your eternal damnation, but how does your desire for freewill survive your belief that the world is a result of chemisty and mathematics?

exactly. there are so many religions to choose from. how am i to know the one i select is the right one and that i'll escape an eternity of pain and suffering? or even, what if i the afterlife is the most amazing thing in the world so long as i accept the right religion -- if not, it's tedious boredom. thelt's logical model would have us all clamoring towards the religion with the absolute worst punishment for non-belivers. you know, just to be safe.

So ask God for proof that He exists.

Of course. But proof is subjective, G. Actually, what I'd be asking you for is evidence to support your claim. Then I'd compare your evidence to what I know and decide if your evidence supercedes any of it.

Morpheus: "I thought you didn't believe in the prophesy."

    Naiobi: "I don't."

Morpheus: "Then why are you doing this?"

    Naiobi: "I believe in (Neo)."

That's really what Christianity boils down to. Discard all the politics and particulars and that's what Christianity is. It's a choice to believe in, and trust Jesus -- not doctrine, and not denominations.

Not to sound glib, but you have to do your homework. Question. Challenge. Research. Evaluate. Over time, you'll reach a decision you trust. Then you keep on questioning and researching and evaluating to see if it's still valid. The more you're initial hypothesis is proven right, the more confidence you build with it.

At least, that's been my experience.

I am reasonably sure that there are scholars in the Jewish, islamic, morman, etc religions who's education and knowledge surpasses ours. I am also sure that they think their religion is the correct one.

Why not invite God into the discussion? You guys are, after all, talking about Him. You guys are only talking about "I'd-better-turn-or-I'm-gonna-burn". You can't bake a cake without all the necessary ingredients. You can't build a car and expect to get into it and get to where you want to go if some of the necessary parts are missing. The most important ingredient of Christianity: God loves us, regardless of what we've done, and He's willing to forgive us of anything, if we only ask Him. God is reaching down to us; all other "religions" say that we must reach up to God, or whatever is up there. If you try to do it on your own, then no matter what good you achieve, you've still got the crap that's bad, hanging on. God says, "Just come to Me, as you are, and I will wash away the bad." Afterwards, the bad is gone, and not hanging over your head.

You should read your first post before accusing someone else of being subjective. The belief that something doesn't exist because you don't believe in it or have faith in it, or only if it has some benefit for you is the epitome of subjectivism.
