He ran the O when Weis was out sick. Gannt practically said that Weis was pushing this guy. Fox has a huge history of hiring people he has worked with. There is no link here except for Weis. Weis had to have been pushing him. Weis is also very good friends with Fox. The took vacations together, I think. He wouldn't push him if he didnt think he was good.

That doesnt mean he is good, of course. But I think there's plenty of evidence to say he was Weis's protege.

Your comments about the TEs is absolutely true. All the guy has to be is a competant OC. Use all the standard plays, and don't call the same 3 400 times in a row, and tip them off. Match the blocking schemes to the OL we have, and/or get OL to match the blocking schemes he want to use. If he can just have some common sense, and use the TEs, I think we will be light years ahead of where we were. If he has some creativity, then that's just all bonus.

Really? I didn't know that. Didn't say anything about that in his bio, unless I missed it.

Where did it say that? All I saw is where it stated that JD worked closely with Weis, not that Weis was "pushing him", or that Fox had even called Weis for a recommendation.

That is a deduction, not a fact (as far as we know). I'm not saying it's absolutely wrong, but ATP, it's nothing more than supposition.

    Granted.

I don't know. I doubt Weis would recommend someone for an advancement to a friend if he wasn't truly worthy. Let's just hope you're right and that's what actually happened.

One more point, copied from the Huddle. Arizona was also looking at Davidson for their OC job. That doesn't mean alot, but their new HC is an O guy, and the fact that he liked him enough to consider him probably means he isnt just some guy scraped from the bottom of the barrel.

This is mildly reassuring, I guess. All we've had to work with is that their line wasn't that good, but there were reasons.

And he's the most average, but he's not the most inexperienced. If it's him, it's him, and at least he'd had a measure of success in the past being recognized by guys who are more esteemed.

    From the Boston Herald:

Evidence that supports your hypothesis, L. Maybe this is going to be better than I'd thought.

But unless I'm wrong about this, wouldn't he have to be OC/Asst. HC for the move to work?

he wasn't under contract so he can go where he wants. The assistant head coach trick doesn't work anymore, a coach under contract for anything less than head coach has to get permission to leave IF under contract.

He's looking for his best opportunity, and seems to have a rightful sense of expectation, but nonetheless that sense of expectation has had him on the move a lot lately.

The thing that stands out to me is that the Patriots didn't see fit to keep him either as an OC following Weis or even the TE coach.

he was the TEs coach, he just left. Apparently because he didn't get the OC job. Which is why he's leaving again.
