I doubt we will change O plans. I hate calling it conservative. We want to run the ball, and pass deep. You can do that without being dumb and predictable.

We also weren't true to that. V. Pittsburgh, we called a million one yard passes. I think that game more than anything got Henning fired. Next week, Fox said "HE" would call run plays until they made a 1st down. That gave me hope he was annoyed with Henning.

I also think Henning is partly responsible for the sorry state of the OL. Someone was pushing that "versatile" value. If it wasn't him, he should have stopped whoever was doing it. Also, isn't it amazing how OL we don't resign because they aren't doing well enough go to other teams and do much better? The scheme they're asked to block in makes a huge difference.

The new OC will be told to establish the run, and use it. You can establish the run by passing sometimes. You don't have to be dumb about it, like we were. You do whatever you need to do to do it.

BTW, the Ravens used our same game plan of a million short passes to come up with 3 whopping points Saturday. Hopefully we will never see a game plan like that again for the Panthers.

As to the others, Maser needed to go. The Jags OL improved alot after we made the OL coach switch.

    Perry I'm surprised at.

I think Crossman needed to go, but I'm OK with him staying. As long as Fox showed that he's willing to make changes, and is not just stuck in the mud, I'll trust him on this. Crossman definitely needs to learn from some bad mistakes made this year, though.

So, I'm very happy. No guarantee at all we will get better, but at least we're trying to get better.

If I were Henning, I would not retire. I would want to be fired. Retiring would imply that I agreed I needed to go. I respect the guy. He did his best. He may want to coach again.

I didn't see that about Fox calling plays. Interesting...wasn't next week ATL? got a link to that info? if not, that's fine.

I guess the ATL game makes more sense now though.

    yes, exactly.

So the one year it came together is the reason to accept four subpar ones?

Or should we buy the most expensive back every year so we can use him up for lack of creativity.

Oh well. At least Henning can check out of the hotel.

    Keyshawn says
Submitted by Darin on Mon, 2007-01-15 16:26.
There's no doubt Panthers WR Keyshawn Johnson was disappointed to hear the news that offensive coordinator Dan Henning was fired Monday.

But he was quick to point out that he's not going to make any rash decisions about his future, and that his status for 2007 wasn't absolutely tied to Henning's presence.

"You can't make emotional decisions," he said Monday afternoon. "When nothing happened immediately, I assumed Dan was coming back. Now it's like, 'Hmmmm, interesting. I'll leave it at that.

"I'm not saying I'm coming back or not coming back, I'm just saying."

He's clearly displeased about the turn of events, but he also wants to see who replaces the main reason he came to town in the first place.

    If Keyshawn leaves...

at least we will get an explanation. Key's never been one not to say what's on his mind.

I kind of read KJ's original comments as a sign Henning really was in trouble. He wouldnt say that just because 2/3rds of the fans wanted him gone. Maybe he was trying to help his friend.

He also may have just been speaking emotionally, and rashly.

    Mag,

I may have heard it said on the broadcast. I doubt Fox was actually calling the plays, but the implication was he was saying whether it would be a run or a pass. Someone on one of the boards posted they lipread where he said "run" into his mike on a play.

Folks, in 2003, 3 of the OL were on drugs. Lots of OCs can do well under that situation.
