Goose Gossage fell short but should be in the Hall. When he pitched, a lot of his saves were 2 and even 3 innings.

It might take him dying to make it.

But if you're not going to put him in, who would you put in from the era? Do you put anybody in?

Any voter that did not vote for Ripken or Gwynn should lose their voting status. A few voters will not vote for any player on the first ballot. How insane is that?

a couple voters turned in blank ballots, kinda like a silent protest. the reasoning was, 'how can we be sure who was and wasn't on the juice?" flawed logic, imhmfo. Ripken was pretty steady throughout his career and Gwynn was always a contact singles/doubles hitter who hit less than 200 dingers.

ESPN radio has some douche bag that turned in a blank ballot as well. He didn't vote for Ripkin as a 1st time ballot because the first year the HOF inductions were held (1918?) and some of the old timers who didn't get in on first ballot and he felt if they didn't why should some of the current guys get in on first ballot.

I've never really understood the logic of the "first ballot" thing. If you don't think a guy deserves to be voted in now, does he suddenly get better 3-5 years later?
