    can you confirm this, davew?

    --clipped from another board--

    1. Three days before the Iron Bowl Saban's agent contacted Mal Moore for Slick Nick and said he was very interested in that job and would like to return to college football. Saban works for the Dolphins (the current Tide coaches father Don Shula is the NFL's all time winningest coach and a legend in the city in which Slick Nick works). Yet he decided to go after Mike Shula's job and felt no remorse in doing it.

    2. Mal Moore meets with Shula who agrees to fire a couple of assistants but is told by Moore that was not necessary and he would return as the Tide coach. 3 hours later Shula is asked to meet Moore at the Bammer athletic center and is fired. I heard this the night that Shula was fired about 1 AM on a Monday morning from a student at UA who works with me during the summers who babysat for the Shula's that night and that a crying Mrs. Shula told her Mike was going to be replaced by Nick Saban.

    3. Bammer turns their sights toward Saban who utters on NFL channel that "he thought Shula was doing a great job", and that Don Shula and the family "are friends of mine" and that "Mike should not have been fired". Saban had at least indirectly played a hand in getting Shula fired yet acted like he was completely shocked by his dismissal.

    4. Bammer courted Spurrier knowing Spurrier was happy at South Carolina yet hoping to pry him away in case Saban wavered on his interest. After some level of nervousness that Saban may not come after all(Saban's public denials scare them) they low ball offer Rodriquez who elects to stay at WVU after WVU matches Bammer's offer.

    5. UAB wants to hire Jimbo Fisher as its Head Coach. Paul Bryant Jr. knows that Saban has confirmed his interest and has agreed to accept the Bammer job. Bryant Jr. is told by Saban that Fisher is his #1 candidate for his new OC and that if he is the head coach at UAB he cannot be the OC at Bammer. The Board of Trustees lead by Paul Bryant Jr. vote to reject the request by the AD to hire Jimbo Fisher as head coach for $600,000 despite the fact that more than $400,000 was to come from a private booster who would only donate the money IF Fisher was named Head Coach.

    6. Don Shula blasts Alabama on Monday Night Football during the Dolphins games versus the Jets. Shula calls out Mal Moore and the leadership at Bammer for being gutless and proclaims that the university should take a look at the people making the decsions at the university. Saban continues to deny interest in a job he has already accepted.

    7. Saban's NFL season ends and he begins contacting coaches to put his staff together with his newly found deep pockets makes any and everyone potential candidates.

    1. DOUBT IT

    2. Shula wasnt going to fire anyone and still wanted to call the off. Got himself fired.

    3. I suppose it could be true

    4. Some have said Spurrier was ready but then PBJr opened his mouth and pissed off SS to the point he told UA to forget the whole thing. "Alabama hit rock bottom when bryant died but they will rise back to the top when bryant jr dies." -steve spurrier

    5. I think some of this is true.

    6. Screw Shula, he should have taught his son to learn to get a fucking play called in from the sideline and not stand there with a deer in the headlights look.

    7. that mean ol' dirty nick saban, how dare he try to take anyone from another coaching staff. This shit happens 10 times a year every year.

Seems pretty much on the spot. If I had a son good enough to be recruited by the top schools in D-1, I think I'd steer him away from Saban. His character and word seem worthless. Of course I'm betting Bama will win 9-10 next year since baby Shula left a nice class for 2007.
