Definitely not. You can criticize him all you want, but calling Harold Johnson a jerk is similar to calling Rick James a white man.

My dad worked with him back in the 70's. You saw him in passing at a Hornets game.

    Who's the better judge?

Here's hoping you have a good New Year Big Guy. I hate to hear about the loss of your wife, hopefully you have been comforted by family and loved ones in this time of need. You were always there on my TV, telling me sports. I remember my dad proclaiming that you must be drunk whenever you'd say something preposterous about UNC. I remember you breaking the very first Hornets trade (Robert Reid?). Your loss is missed in Charlotte, the best of a sorry lot my friend coined.

I never really noticed how much you had done for the Charlotte market until you were gone. So I hope you have a happy retirement, you've earned it.

edit: For the record, I always thought the restaurant/hotel guy should have given you a little something something.

I saw and talked to him every home game for 2 seasons. He's a jerk.

As a young sports anchor several years ago, the Big Guy called me at the station one day just to tell me I was doing a good job. 3 for Mrs. Johnson.

Forgetting for a moment the fact that any one of the professional media people here could tell you that there is no way in hell Harold Johnson attended every Hornets home game for two straight years, if he was such a jerk, why did you talk to him every time?

Back in the early years, the local sports guys were at almost every home game. Harold was no exception. It was the place to be during the first few seasons. I talked to him because I had to. I was working and was around him a lot.
