...for last season was announced today. $26 million.

Redsox came in at about $400,000, proving that their payrolls shouldn't be compared as some like to. That is just ridiculous.

The Yankees have paid almost $98 million over the last 4 years.

Uh ... no. Boston would be paying significantly more than that if posting fees counted against the luxury tax threshold, which it should. Also, the Red Sox have far out-spent the Yankees in terms of signing players. Most of New York's financial obligations have come from taking on contracts that players signed with other teams.

    You're a retard.

Uh...no. They sign more free agent dollars than anyone.

And even if your statement was accurate, so what. Why does it matter which team signed him? They knew what the player was making when they aquired them.

Uh ... no. Boston would be paying significantly more than that if posting fees counted against the luxury tax threshold

Uh...no. They would be under 2 million which is a far cry from $28 million.

This line of argument is awesome.
They spend more than most, certainly, but not more than anyone. A-Rod, Giambi, Randy Johnson, Abreu, and others were all contracts acquired from other teams, and on most the Yankees actually aren't paying all of it themselves. But they did sign Damon, Mussina, Matsui, etc, so they have spent quite a bit.
Well it depends on how the posting fee would be included, if they did include it. If all $51 million counted this season then they'd pay $20.8 million in luxury taxes this year, but if it was spread out over the life of the contract then they'd owe $3.8 million in luxury taxes. Either way, if the posting fee was included then they'd be paying significantly more than they are now.

The Yankees have paid over $98 million in luxury tax over the past 4 seasons. Nobody comes within $90 million of that no matter what fees you add. Game, set, match.

And you are a retard, ask anyone.

If only wishing made it so. You said that including the posting fee wouldn't significantly increase Boston's luxury tax fee. You were wrong. You said that they didn't take on most of their financial obligations from other teams. You were wrong. You said that the Yankees spent more on free agents than anyone. You were wrong. Seriously man, if you're going to be despised anyway, at least pretend to care about being right instead of just saying "Game, set, match" when you've spectacularly lost an argument.
I am well aware of my unpopularity, but you seem to be blissfully unaware that you're just as hated or possibly moreso, and yet you aren't respected by anyone whereas my opinion (at least on football subjects) is very well thought of.

Most of this post is just spin to suit your argument. I've seen you go on for days and have no desire to get into this anymore with a clown like you.

Furthermore, nobody thinks you are football knowledgeable, other than you.

Try not to confuse disdain with respect.

I'll give you A-Rod and Abreu. but Giambi was signed as a free agent and the Yankees signed Johnson to a ridiculous extension shortly after trading for him. So to say that most of their obligations are from other team's contracts is just not accurate.
