I took a minute to look at the backfield in the time that Fox has been coach, and the thing that jumped out at me is just how much it's been shuffled around. About the only year there wasn't some kind of shift or tweak was 2004, coming off the Super Bowl appearance.

Fox clearly isn't shy about making changes in the backfield. Whether it's a fair decision or the right decision is a topic for debate, but it's pretty plain he's willing to do it if he feels it'll be an improvement.

We were lucky this year (maybe cause we've not rode them), but we usually eat up RB's.

I meant to ask (but didn't) whatever happened to those plays? They worked, and we quit running them.

The one specific play's a gimmick. It's like the college triple option - you can hand off to the FB or pitch to the RB. Since the outside stuff has been abandoned, there's not a lot of leeway there.

Why the outside stuff has been abandoned, why we don't try other dive plays inside, etc, I don't know.

I guess my point was at least make them prove they can stop it before banishing it from the playbook.

we ain't eaten up our backs this year, because going 3 and outs all day with maybe one run per, and then chucking it because we are behind, or brilliantly having a 2nd QB throw 60 times per game, or not trying worth a damn in the fourth qtr don't eat up backs. I'd rather eat up backs and go to the SB.
