Teenage pregnacy is down. The highest rate for US teenage births was 1957. Violent crime is down to a 40 year low. Sexually transmitted diseases are down per capita.

Sometimes the good ol' days aren't as good as we remember.

 

in 1957, weren't more people getting married in there teens than today? Not to dispute your claim, but maybe out-of-wedlock births would be a better barometer.

 

legal baby murder has nothing to do with it either

 

well just yesterday on CNN they said murder was up and robbery too. Even poor ole blow up Frosty yard decorations are getting attacked and stabbed.
I come home and our Walmart at the mall has to have a whole police unit set up outside in a trailer just to help with all the violence that happens there. it sure don't seem like violent crime is down. or maybe when i was a kid, i just didn't pay attention.

 

Murder rate per capita is down close to 50% since 1980. Those numbers are from the FBI.

jb, generally the crime rates are down across the board. During bad economic times, they tend to spike a bit. Overall, the trend is down. We are just innundated with crime coverage on a daily basis.

Teen pregnancy is down about 28% during the same time period while the abortion rate for teens has dropped around 50% from the peak numbers in 1988.

 

Things really aren't as bad as they appear. It's just with CNN FOX and other 24/7 news stations, the world seems worse off than 10 years ago. Active internet connections don't help either.
