Yeah, not seeing anything any better atm. Maybe that will change when the roster bonus comes up (in Feb I think).

Huard can't carry a team on his back, but people are looking for a guy who can avoid stupid mistakes and complete basic passes on third down to keep drives alive. Sure, a lot of people tend to get overly excited about the flavor of the month name, but I doubt they're doing it because they somehow believe he's a Pro Bowler in the making.

And yet you went out of your way to correctly point out that Weinke's problems were the same ones he had back in 2001. Was it because he wasn't coached at all during that time or because it's damn hard to change older quarterbacks?

Jake is not doing anything worse than he did in 2003. It's the timing of the mistakes that have killed us (which is a fair criticism).....

Be nice to give him a running game. Kinda, sorta, might....ya know....help.

If you're looking for a vanilla, non-playmaker, then Huard is your bag.

Jake is a playmaker--and sometimes, they're bonehead plays. But Jake has carried the O on his back before in games. And unlike some of the elites, he has not had the advantage of a mildly effective running game (or screen game) since 2003.

At least you've progressed from irrationally angry to just irrational. In 2005 our running game sucked Rosie O'Donnell's balls, but we made it to the NFC Championship game. In 2006 our running game is actually a little better, but we're hopelessly outmatched on offense. Why? The #1 difference between then and now is that Jake has completely lost his accuracy. His completion percentage on all passes more than 5 yards beyond the line of scrimmage is far, far lower than it has ever been. He wasn't particularly accurate before, but now he's downright horrible.

Credit opponents for coming correct on how to defend 89.

And also recognize that Gross is back at LT, and some slob named Bridges is out at RT. Hangartner is our starting C. That's awful. Downright awful.

Tougher schedule, tougher defenses. Down the stretch last year, the running game heated up. It's not this year...never did (unless we were playing STL).

I think we were all hoping Weinke would be that guy.

I really didn't have to go out of my way at all. But nice slam.
And his problems are the same ones he had back in 2001 because he's never shown any different. Jake has, though too few of times especially lately, has shown definite changes in his mechanics, where he holds the ball, where he releases the ball, how often he throws off the correct foot, decision making, and so on.

The number of the sacks the Oline has surrendered do not support your argument, but numbers lie i guess.

    both of these are correct.

And Smith's not the only guy to ever get a lot of attention. You adjust to that, and more than just "well, I guess we'll throw that 0 route less." It's the QB's job to get it up to Smith also. That's one thing that actually didn't suck about Basanez, he'd throw to the top guys, not just the guys he practiced with.

Does Chad Johnson get attention, does Marvin Harrison? Their QB's still manage to get it to them, Jake cant.
