No. What part of that paragraph I posted did you not understand, because the whole point of it was to explain how his problems are not correctable.
This is where your lack of familiarity with athletics hurts your understanding. Muscle memory is a very real thing, and as I hinted at above, it's incredibly difficult to change the mechanics of an adult. If you have bad throwing habits by the time you reach the NFL, you'll probably keep them forever, and the odds of that increase as you get older. Jake has been around the block so many times that the chances of him radically changing his physical performance are almost non-existant.
Most of the problems I cited are things that Jake has always struggled with. He always had bad mechanics, he always panicked in the face of pressure, and he always had problems with dumb turnovers in key moments. He won a number of games for us from 2003 to 2005, but he also lost a fair number of games for us during that period as well. Now he's become inaccurate as well, which makes him a liability to the offense. It's not absolute, but generally speaking when a QB loses his accuracy he's done. There's a chance that Jake can get back to his old form and be adequate, but it's not what I would call likely, and it's not something I want to risk yet another season on.

    Thelt:
That's because you're emotionally attached to him. Jake has been awful this year, seriously. How do you not grasp the significance of "worst QB in the entire league on 3rd downs"? The guy has more turnovers than touchdown passes. But if you're going to blame Keyshawn for those two turnovers, that's just dumb.

    FSF:
You're not normally retarded, so I suggest you take a walk around the block and then come back to your computer. If you have a question at that point, I'll be glad to answer it.

Yeah, FSF can have a mean streak. I know all about that.

Took that stroll around the block, and I had an epiphany....

...oh fuck it...I still feel the same.

Any golfers out there ought to know that it's one thing to change your swing (mechanics) on the practice range but a lot tougher to trust it when the red light is on. Going back to the old way, which is the comfort zone and has worked before, is the natural thing to do. So I wouldn't expect Jake's mechanics to improve a whole lot overnight.

I do think he's worth another season before throwing him away.

edit: but after seeing Weinke hold the ball all day for two weeks, I'm certainly in favor of getting some real competition for the QB spot around here.

You don't trade one equal for another.

If Palmer, Brees, Manning, Brady, etc were available, sure...make a run. But when I am seeing threads about "HEY HEY....DAMON HUARD??!!!!", it only confirms to me how retarded some fans can really be, if they put their mind to it.

If you dont have some stats refuting the "bash Delhomme" argument then shut the hell up.

there have been numerous times where Delhomme's technique have changed for the better and for the worse in and between seasons. The idea that he's just a hopeless problem is an opinion. The criticisms stated against him apply to a good number of QBs in this league, including QBs better than him.

Oh, too many times. It's why I quit that stupid fucking game.

But yeah, there's definitely a difference between practice situations and game situations. But Delhomme, from what I read about him while he was in New Orleans, was never a good practice player anyway. They liked him when he got into the game, but he never had good practice habits. That could be why his mechanics have been frozen in time since I watched him beat Dallas years ago.

He's had some ups and downs. I've seen him do a better job stepping up into the pocket at times. For the most part, though, he can't seem to keep the bad habits from returning.
