What kind of touch? you will feel pain if you apply a little pressure.

rest, ice, and calf stretches will help. ibuprofin might too.

I was out of town and forgot my running shoes so I ran on a tread mill a few days with some light hiking shoes (not boots). The second night the inside of my shin was sore and it is almost feels like a bruse but it's not as dull of a pain. The following week I resumed running with regular shoes and after a few days it started back up. I knocked the spot fairly lightly with a dumbell and about fell over in pain. The pain doesn't seem to ba associated with walking or running or movement.

Sounds like shin splints to me. i had a pretty bad case of them for the better part of two years when i was training for a couple of marathons. as they get worse, you will feel discomfort when you walk and run.

invest in a couple bags of frozen veggies and use them as ice packs. you can re-use them over and over and you have no mess. you might want to consider ice massage if they persist. fill a small paper cup about 3/4 full and freeze it. peel the paper down the sides and rub the ice directly on the injured area. 10 or 15 minutes should do the trick.

you can if you want...but i wouldn't recommend it.

good luck with the spints..they can be a bitch if you don't get them under control early.

Shin splints suck. I've never found a "cure." Just don't run or jog for a week or so. Try to walk as little as possible and they'll get better.
