Bowden's had the talent to do alot better than he has. He seems to win just enough to keep from being fired. With the talent, facilities and fan support the Tigers have Bowden should be leading them to the top 15 every year.

 

Talked to my Mom last night. Pretty much everyone at her job, church, grocery store, and holiday parties all seem to feel the same. Apparently his comments about Spurrier's raise really pissed off a lot of people on top of his inability to further develop the talent he gets. Now he's saying maybe he should have left Reggie in against USC. You think?!

 

Yeah...the Spurrier and his raise comments were plain stupid. Spurrier had Miami and Bama trying to get him to show interest. He'd also just taken a team of Freshman and Sophomores to a winning record. Bowden has been there what...8 years? Had his best team ever and won 8 games?

I haven't heard him second guessing himself on Merriweather. I'm SURE he did privately, but did he do it publicly? Hech...the WHOLE crowd was chanting REGGIE REGGIE...and he was getting 5-6 yards each handoff. Who in their right mind would pull him???

 

The comments about Spurrier were bad enough, but it was that chuckle he does that really gets under everyone's skin.

There is a group of people, myself included, who wouldn't be surprised if Bowden took Reggie out just because the crowd was so into him. Bowden doesn't like to be told what to do, especially by fans. I know that sounds stupid, but after listening to him for the last 7 years, I wouldn't put it past him.
