But why would Jerry Richardson turn down a chance to bring in another event to BoA Stadium? I mean, as much as this town supports the Panthers, he should in turn do something for the City of Charlotte which allowed him to get such a sweat heart deal on leasing the land ($1 a year for the next 99 years).

my point isn't anti-capitalism, it's anti-bitching about people trying to protect the value of their assets when it inconveniences you.

It's not really inconvienent, I just find it rahter prickish that he'd be willing to screw the people who really paid for his stadium(the fans) by keeping the ACC Championship from coming to town. Like I said, it's his stadium, he can do what he wants with it.

    'Can' does not imply 'ought'.

I don't see how that's screwing the people who paid for the stadium. It's not like they'll get in for free.

good, then the city can throw that shit in richardson's face if he comes asking for money for a new stadium.

I'd like to hear jr's reasoning for not allowing the game here.

"the fans" of ACC football and "the fans" of Panthers football probably aren't the same people overall. I don't think he owes it to the general public to underbid on a stadium he paid $180 mil for, ten years ago, that he supposedly isn't solvent on yet. It's like anything else, you want that business? You make it happen. If not, you know you have the prime spot for it, and you can wait for it to come to you.

I've heard they're too heavy on what they charge for other events, though. Concerts, other games. Maybe they were too light when it came to, say, stupid ass soccer events that tore up the field, and decided they'd overcompensate.
