about Matzusaka not having to go through the posting process next year if he doesn't sign with the sox this year.

    Per si-com:

Should the parties agree on a contract worth $100 million, for example, the Red Sox would actually be paying $151.11 million because they must pay the entire posting fee to the Lions. If no agreement is reached, Matsuzaka could be available under the posting system after the 2007 season. No posting would be necessary after the 2008 season since he would become a free agent no longer tied to Seibu.

maybe I should make a poll pointing out Collin's ignorance.

of course, SI could be wrong. who knows?

I heard on Fox Radio that the Sox are waivering on signing MazShuPork and are going after Clemens. Also they are careful in their words to not lose any future Japanese players

Collin's never been wrong. Si.com needs to let him proof everything before releasing it.

I saw the same thing somewhere else this week. I thought he was a free gent after next season as well - because that's what everything said when the bid came out. This gives the Sox even more leverage in their negotiations - which is obviously a good thing as far as I am concerned.

    True, and thanks.

In any case, not only can Matsuzaka try the posting process again next fall or wait to become an unrestricted free agent in 2008, but he can work out a deal with Seibu that lets him out of his remaining contract for a set fee as soon as the negotiating window with the Red Sox has closed. Also, I like how grid takes the time to bash me for something that the media sources I read got wrong, but how he was completely wrong about the kind of money it would take per year and ignores that. Kudos, grid.

bashing you. perhaps, but remember the condescending tone you took when you "corrected" me for saying he'd go back through the posting process. If I bashed you, you had it coming, fucktard.
