I've argued to myself if the playcalling is John Fox's choice or Henning's choice, and frankly I'm not sure, but SOMEONE needs to be able to notice what they are doing that's working and what they're doing that's not and go from there. If the Panthers are in a game and can run, for whatever reason they abandon it. If they can pass they attempt to run. Don't get me wrong I know you want to achieve balance to help prevent a defense from knowing what's coming, but SOMEONE choosing the calls seems to go the complete opposite of what's working. I've noticed that all season.

From my recollection of Fassel when I lived in NYC and followed the Giants we could probably count on seeing our backs used more in the passing game. IMO that would be a good thing

As I pointed out in a recent Email exchange with Langston Wertz, the only real difference between this year and last is third down. Of Jake's third down pass attempts, 48.6% were from 3-7 yards in 2006, 51.1% were from 3-7 yards in 2005, and 45.6% were from 3-7 yards in 2004. So I don't really think much has changed or that defenses have now figured us out. They always knew what we were going to do, we're just not doing it well this season.

The "0" route has been completely eliminated. Teams are brining the CB to the line to jam 89, and rolling safety help over the top. Many times, it's in a Cov2 shell (see yesterday).

We would gain 7, 8, 50 yards at a time utilizing the smoke route. It's gone now. That hurts. What also hurts is the lack of rhythm, timing and efficiency in this offensive scheme (passing game). We have always relied too heavily on home runs. If you ever want to see how an offense should be organized, and executed, see Sean Peyton's 2006 Saints. Crisp, clean.....there's a plan, and the plan gets executed. With Carolina, you don't see that.

Of course, any "scheme" looks better if you can establish a dominant running game. We can't, and haven't since the first half of 2003. Damn shame too.

John Fox was not responsible for any expectations. SI/ESPN/Dukey were the culprits on than front.

It's kinda hard to find coaches out there that have:

    1. Two title game appearances
    2. One conference championship
    3. 5-2 playoff record.

In fact, Chicago has one playoff game since the birth of the Panthers. Playoffs are hard to come by, and wins...even harder. You're blessed with one of the best (five playoff wins in three years), and we're talking about finding someone/something better out there.

He could go 6-10. To me, he's the guy for the job. The problem is not Fox. The problem is that Fox has problems. He will either fix the problems, or he won't. If he doesn't, he should go. He usually fixes the shit, which is more than what 90% of coaches out there do.

Consistency usually pays off. Schottenheimer is as stubborn as anyone. But he has LT, decent blocking. Fox/Henning don't.

Hey, if you're gonna take the rubber hose to anyone, take it to Hurney's ass.

Agreed. If the OL blocks, Delhomme has the time to step into his throws more often. If it blocks, the runners have somewhere to go, and we dont have to wonder why we only ran 15 times a game, and passed over 50. I watched the Giants yesterday, and watched how they attacked us straight ahead, and wondered if its time we change our philosophy there.

And Im not as concerned with Flajole as I am with Sunseri. I want Sunseri fucking gone. I cant blame Flajole for letting Witherspoon and Short go, and signing Morgan to a huge contract only to go on IR for the entire year following. Thats our three right there from last year. Sunseri has no such excuse, only a hideously underacheiving line.

Are we that good? Pep is amazing. Ruck is decent. Jenks is an enigma. Kemo is a fat butt plug.

Thats fair. But yeah, I would say we are good. THAT good, to do what some fans here want us to do, get a sack every other snap? Of course not....but much better than what we are showing, yes.

Yes. Its fun listening to him, and I was guilty of quoting him sometimes, and hes a blast to watch.

    But so was Tony Wise.

But to address the overall post, no, Fox does NOT need to be on the hotseat, no matter how upset we get at him sometimes. WE have injuries, poor FO decisions, players who just didnt work out here, and assistants not doing their jobs, when he puts the crux on them to do so. That much isnt his fault.
